The Bahá’í writings always captivate and inspire me, even after I revisit them frequently. The Kitáb-i-Íqán (Book of Certitude) has been monumental in the edification of my faith. Recently the desire to revisit this treasure has returned. And so I decided to dedicate the coming month of Kalimát to its reading.
Kalimát, which is the seventh month of the Badi/Bahá’í calendar, means “words” in Arabic. I thought, “Why not read some of the most potent words from Bahá’u’lláh during the ‘month of words’?” Each day I shall read fifteen sections of the Iqán. There are 290 sections in the book; reading 15 per day for 19 days comes out to 285. Sections 285 through 290 are quite short, so the nineteenth day of Kalimát will consist of twenty sections.
This reading plan should be quite enjoyable indeed. Dedicating fifteen or so minutes per day reading the Kitáb-i-Íqán shall be a wonderful devotional period, and a great time with which to reconnect with this wonderful book. And every single revisiting of a Bahá’í writing reveals yet more hidden pearls of awesomeness! I look forward to beginning this reading journey at sunset with a steaming cup of tea, as Kalimát begins.
